Process for developing NDC 

The NDC technical committee was tasked with preparing the document. In doing so, relevant stakeholder institutions were engaged in consultations. Updates to the contributions section utilized reports and studies that became available since the first NDC’s submission. These references included “studies commissioned for the purpose of the NDC update, conducted by national and international consultants and experts, and data and studies conducted for the Third National communication and first biennial update reports.”

Description of Monitoring and/or Implementation Mechanism 

Sudan has developed its National Adaptation Plan and is implementing its National Adaptation Readiness Project from 2021 to 2022.

Summary of gender reference 

Under adaptation component, actions under the agriculture sector include empowerment for women facing an increase in severe droughts, degradation of natural resources, scarce water, and loss of livelihood sources. In addition, a gender mainstreaming approach will likewise be applied in all interventions. “[W]omen saving groups, women income and food opportunities (household and garden), diversified livelihood sources” will also be established.
