Esta NDC actualizada de tres páginas no es más que una comunicación de ocho puntos actualizados que se añaden a la primera NDC. Los tres puntos más destacados son

1: Proponer y seguir propagando un modo de vida sano y sostenible basado en tradiciones y valores de conservación y moderación, incluso a través de un movimiento de masas a favor de "LIFE" - "Lifestyle for Environment"- como clave para combatir el cambio climático.

2: Reducir la intensidad de las emisiones de su PIB en un 45% para 2030, desde el nivel de 2005.

3: Alcanzar alrededor del 50% de la capacidad instalada acumulada de energía eléctrica a partir de recursos energéticos no basados en combustibles fósiles para 2030, con la ayuda de la transferencia de tecnología y financiación internacional de bajo coste, incluido el Fondo Verde para el Clima (GCF).

El objetivo a largo plazo de India es llegar a cero emisiones netas en 2070. No ha cambiado con respecto a la primera NDC.

El Plan Nacional de Acción sobre Cambio Climático (NAPCC por sus siglas en inglés) brinda una mayor atención a las intervenciones requeridas. Actualmente, el NAPCC es implementado a través de ocho Misiones Nacionales, definiendo las prioridades para la mitigación y la adaptación al cambio climático. Las iniciativas políticas del gobierno se complementan con acciones de los gobiernos estatales, organizaciones no gubernamentales, iniciativas del sector privado y otros actores relevantes. 32 estados y Territorios de la Unión han puesto en marcha el Plan de Acción Estatal sobre Cambio Climático (SAPCC por sus siglas en inglés) intentando transversalizar las preocupaciones del cambio climático en sus procesos de planeación.

Resumen de referencias sobre género 

La contribución de la India toma en cuenta su compromiso con la conservación de naturaleza, así como, los imperativos de satisfacer la demanda competitiva por recursos para atender los retos (inter alia) de la igualdad de género y el empoderamiento de las mujeres.

Además, la introducción del NDC incluye la siguiente sección, “Contribución de los Ciudadanos y el Sector Privado para el combate del Cambio Climático”, estableciendo que la ciudanía en la India es parte integrante de las estrategias nacionales para combatir el cambio climático, a través de la mitigación.
